Are Church Mailers a Total Waste of Money?

I have yet to read a well thought out, convincing argument for why churches spend money on promotional direct mail pieces. Usually, the answer is based on “feeling” or loose opinions. Most of the time the above responses are good enough to leave the mailer discussion alone and move forward … until now.

Direct Mail & the church, a Love Story.

We are pretty sure sometime after the Ascension, the early Church purchased a demographic study of the Roman Empire, designed a 5.5” by 11” mailer, and sent it by chariot and carrier pigeon to the most densely populated ZIP codes around their local catacombs.
