I have yet to read a well thought out, convincing argument for why churches spend money on promotional direct mail pieces. Usually, the answer is based on “feeling” or loose opinions. Most of the time the above responses are good enough to leave the mailer discussion alone and move forward … until now.

Social media tools like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for many church leaders have become a necessary evil, something they do because the latest church leadership conference or magazine tells them they should. Unfortunately, this attitude is the beginning of a bad relationship between the social media tool and its user.
