One Size Doesn’t Fit All – Thoughts From a Youth Pastor

One of my pet peeves is when I hear an older person lamenting that “All teenagers are the same.” I usually have to excuse myself so the steam fuming from my ears doesn’t scald those sitting next to me. It was unsettling, then, to realize that I am guilty of the same stereotypical thinking.

Are You Not Entertained?

Remember the scene in Gladiator where Maximus, having just struck down a few folks and covered in sweat, grime and blood throws his sword up towards the royal box and turns to the crowd shouting, “Are you not entertained!?” It struck me that perhaps that is a question pastors, speakers, and worship leaders quietly ask the church community. Of course we would never say it out loud, but, isn’t part of the seeker-sensitive model to “hook” people into coming to something that is designed with their intrigue in mind?
