Porn, the Church & Everyone Else

by · May 18, 2010

Lifechurch.tv and XXXChurch.com have collaborated to present a 25 minute interactive experience focused on the real life effects of pornography.

Is it trendy to address porn in the church?  Should churches do more to bring awareness and provide ideas on how to combat porn?  A good chunk of the world looks at porn as a positive thing to bring into marriages to help improve relationships.  What do you think?

How does a church address porn, sexual exploitation, sex trafficking etc. to the culture and community around it to draw people in to hearing and understanding without feeling condemned?

Have you seen churches handle these issues with tact?  BONUS: Have you seen Southern Baptist churches handle this at all?

It doesn't matter if it's trendy. If it needs to be talked about in your church community then THAT'S what matters.

More and more women are becoming porn addicts, and I have yet to really hear a sermon preached to women. I think because of the lack of communication to women, even more shame and embarrassment pile up and the more women try to keep it a secret for fear of rejection in their church community. Sometimes it comes across that churches just expect men to be dealing with this issue, and that's not right either.

One thing that's really lacking is help for those that are married or in a relationship with an addict. Basically, they are involved in an abusive relationship, and I have yet to sit in a sermon where that is mentioned and help is offered.
